Retired At The End Of 2023, Commander Yudo Margono Wants To Become A Farmer

JAKARTA - TNI Commander Admiral Yudo Margono chose to become a farmer after officially retiring at the end of 2023.

"Yes, farming. Wong is retired. I'm from farming, retiring, yes, farming again," said Yudo when met at TNI Headquarters, Jakarta, quoted by ANTARA Friday, October 6.

Regarding the issue of extending his term as TNI Commander, Yudo was reluctant to comment further.

Currently Yudo only refers to the applicable rules. If he obeys the rules, he said his term of office will end on November 26, 2023.

"I'll follow that I retired on November 26 according to my birth. Yes, that's it. Yes, retire," said Yudo.

The decision to extend the term of office of the TNI Commander, said Yudo, is the prerogative of the president.

"Yes, it's not. 'It's not my authority for that. What is clear is that I am ready to retire on November 26,' he explained.

Meanwhile, Indonesian President Joko Widodo said that the replacement of the TNI Commander Admiral Yudo Margono, who will retire at the end of 2023, is still in process.

"It's still in process, it's still in process," said Jokowi after attending the TNI's 78th Anniversary commemoration ceremony at the National Monument Field, Jakarta, last Thursday.

Regarding the option to extend the term of office of the TNI Commander, Jokowi was reluctant to explain in detail.

Previously, there was a discourse on extending the term of office of the TNI Commander following a lawsuit filed by the Head of the TNI Legal Development Agency, Admiral Kresno Buntoro, along with a number of retired members to the Constitutional Court (MK) regarding the retirement age limit for members of the TNI.

Chairman of Commission I of the House of Representatives, Meutya Hafid, believes that the option to extend the term of office of the TNI Commander has indeed been raised openly. However, Meutya invited the Government to review the proposal.

In accordance with Article 53 of Law Number 34 of 2004 concerning the TNI, the retirement age for TNI officers is 58 years. Yudo Margono entered the age of 58 on November 26, 2023.
