The Construction Of The Velodrome-Manggarai LRT Will Be Worked For 36 Months

Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, said that the construction of the Jakarta LRT on the Velodrome-Manggarai route would be carried out for 36 months or 3 years.

This is stated in a contract package signed by PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) along with selected auction participants.

"Regarding the construction of the Velodrome-Manggarai LRT, it is targeted this week for a contract. Construction will be carried out for 36 months," said Syafrin in a short message, Thursday, October 5.

Syafrin revealed that the preparation process for laying the first stone or groundbreaking for the construction of the phase 1b Jakarta LRT route is still being carried out.

"Currently, the work area is being fenced up in stages, while the groundbreaking is being prepared," he said.

The DKI Provincial Government initially planned to ground the LRT Phase 1B project on the route in August or September 2023. However, the plan was postponed because the procurement of construction services for the Velodrome-Manggarai route had failed to auction.

The tender procurement process has been repeated by inviting auction participants who have followed the previous process and determined the winner. Then, Jakpro also had time to wait for the tender winning company to hand over the project implementation guarantee.

"The tender winner to get a contract must submit an implementation guarantee. Because there is a period of time for the management. Now Jakpro's colleagues are currently in that stage, later after it is submitted, groundbreaking can be carried out," explained Syafrin.

After the winner of the tender handed over the guarantee, said Syafrin, the laying of the first stone could only be done. Syafrin said that based on the direction of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), all development projects must be orderly.

"Because of the President's direction, all legal aspects or administrative requirements must be met, then groundbreaking can be carried out," said Syafrin.

It is planned that the 1B phase of the Jakarta LRT has 5 stations with a length of 6.4 kilometers, namely Youth Station, BPKP Station, Pramuka Market Station, Matraman Station, and Manggarai Station.

So far, as many as 6 LRT stations have operated with a length of 5.2 kilometers in phase 1. So, if the 1B phase has been built, the Jakarta LRT has a route length of 12.2 kilometers with 11 stations ranging from Pegangsaan Dua Station to Manggarai Station.

When fully operational, the Jakarta LRT is targeted to carry 185 thousand passengers per day. However, based on the results of a feasibility study or feasibility study, the estimated passengers of the Jakarta LRT are around 80 thousand to 100 thousand people per day.
