The Attorney General's Office Explores Allegations Of Corruption In The Management Of BUMN Pension Funds

The Attorney General's Office is investigating allegations of corruption in the management of the State-Owned Enterprises Pension Fund (Dapen BUMN), which is estimated to have temporarily cost the state finances around Rp. 300 billion.

Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin said the figure of Rp. 300 billion was obtained based on the preliminary results of an audit for certain purposes carried out by the Ministry of SOEs supported by BPKP against four BUMN Dapens.

"It was conveyed by the Minister of SOEs that around Rp. 300 billion was just the initial calculation," said Burhanuddin, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 3.

According to him, this value is only in the initial range, it is suspected that the value could continue to grow, because the audit conducted by BPKP is not yet 100 percent.

"It was conveyed by the Head of BPKP that only had 10 percent of the calculation, but this could develop, which is certain that the number will not be decisive, because it will continue to grow, but definitely more than 300 billion," he said.

The Ministry of SOEs directly checks the management of state-owned pension funds. Of the 48 pension funds, 34 of them or about 70 percent were sick.

From the results of the inspection, the Ministry of SOEs asked BPKP to conduct an audit with a certain purpose. There were four audited BUMN Dapens, namely Inhutani, PTPN, Angkasa Pura 1 and RNI or IDFood.

The results of the interim audit showed that the four BUMN Dapens suffered a loss of Rp. 300 billion.

Burhanuddin emphasized that the Attorney General's Office fully supports the SOE cleaning program carried out by Minister Erick Thohir.

After submitting the audit report for certain purposes, it was received by his party, said Burhunddin, the party again carried out calculations together with the BPK to find out the value of state losses.

"We will continue to support later what the Minister of SOEs said, and later especially in calculating state losses and of course again when there is a handover to us, we will again calculate together with the BPK, what we have to do and this is our synergy pattern of the Ministry of SOEs, the Attorney General's Office and BPKP," said Burhanuddin.

The Head of the Legal Information Center (Kapuspenkum) of the Attorney General's Office, Ketut Sumedana, added that after his party received a report from the Minister of SOEs, research and deepening were carried out, then clarification and conducting a general investigation.

"This has not been investigated, after the handover in the near future we will study, clarify, if necessary we will immediately conduct a general investigation," said Ketut.

The mode of alleged corruption carried out is almost like a corruption case at PT Asuransi Jiwasraya and ASABRI.

Head of BPKP Muhammad Yusuf Ateh said that the audit of certain destinations was a follow-up to SOE Minister Erick Thohir's request.

"So what we value is accountability, governance of pension funds. Then we try to identify areas that are at risk and provide recommendations for improvement," Ateh said.

Of the four SOE Dapen audits, he said, his party took a new investment transaction sampling of 10 percent of the value of IDR 1.125 trillion. The results of the audit found that investment transactions were carried out without paying attention to the principles of good governance.

In addition, of the four BUMN Dapens, two indications are 'fraud' (frauds that harm individuals, companies and the economy at large) as feared by the Minister of SOEs.

"So we have conveyed the results of this audit on September 18. And we have actually given recommendations for improvements because not all of them have indications of fraud," said Ateh.

Regarding these findings, said Ateh, his party has provided recommendations to the Ministry of SOEs to make improvements so that the BUMN Dapen system can be repaired.

"What we can do may be improvements and hopefully some of these pension funds can still be improved so that they are even better," said Ateh.
