20 People Poisoned After Eating Rice Boxes At The Prophet's Birthday

As many as 20 residents experienced food poisoning after eating boxed rice distributed during the Maulid of the Prophet Muhammad SAW in Ciharashas Village, Cilaku District, Sunday, October 1.

Head of the Disease Prevention and Control Division of the Cianjur Regency Health Office (Dinkes), West Java, Cianjur, Frida Layla Yahya said, data from the Cilaku Health Center officers, 20 residents who were poisoned received medical treatment in a number of places including Cianjur Hospital.

"Some people who receive treatment are children, all of whom have been treated medically and are starting to improve, two of whom are undergoing treatment at the Cianjur Hospital and two others at private hospitals and local health centers," he said.

Frida explained that his party would bring samples of food suspected of being the cause of mass poisoning that befell dozens of residents in Kebon Mangu Village, Ciharashas Village after attending the Prophet's birthday, to West Java Labkesda to confirm it.

"We will send food samples for laboratory tests, so we cannot confirm the cause of poisoning, but most complained of pain after eating the boxed rice obtained while attending the Prophet's birthday," he said.

His party has alerted dozens of medical personnel to provide rapid services for residents who are poisoned because it is suspected that there are more than 20 people. "We are still monitoring and placing officers in the field for fast service," he said.

Meanwhile, information about residents who were victims of mass poisoning felt nauseous and vomited after eating boxed rice containing rice with side dishes and bihun noodles. Most of them eat boxed rice after arriving home with their children and other family members.

"We got boxed rice after attending the Prophet's birthday. We ate it after arriving home, after a few tens of minutes after eating boxed rice, I felt dizzy, nauseous and vomited. The neighbor felt the same thing after eating the boxed rice," said the victim. Ai Ayundawati rice box (27).

He and other residents did not feel a different taste from the rice and side dishes given in the box, but after a few tens of minutes after eating them finished they felt the same way until they finally received medical help from local health workers.

"After receiving medical assistance and being given liquid through infusion, my two children and I who were also poisoned began to improve. As far as I know, more than 20 people were present at the Prophet's birthday," he said.
