Unand Finds Alleged Misappropriation Of Student Funds Of IDR 613 Million

The results of the examination from the Andalas University Internal Supervisory Unit (Unand) West Sumatra found allegations of misappropriation of student funds in 2022 amounting to Rp613,085,180.

"After the search conducted by SPI, it was found that there was an alleged loss of Andalas University of more than Rp. 613 million," said Andalas University Secretary Henmaidi in Padang as reported by ANTARA, Friday, September 29.

He explained that the alleged state loss to the university was related to the 2022 student funds that failed to be paid to those who were entitled to receive them.

"The data is as long as the evidence is available, and has been examined by the SPI," said Henmaidi.

At the end of 2022, there were a number of activities, awarding achievement incentives, and various student activities that had not been paid for.

Administratively, he said, all documents have been processed and the budget for payment of activities has also been disbursed into the accounts of Treasurer Fields I and III. However, in fact, the treasurer of Field I did not make all payments to related parties (who were entitled to receive).

For this matter, SPI conducts a comprehensive examination to trace the flow of funds. During the examination, the Treasurer of Field I admitted that he had used the funds in an improper way or for personal gain.

The university has made efforts to recover the loss by asking for a commitment from the treasurer through salary cuts, and other efforts.

Then, as an administrative measure for the mistakes made by the Treasurer of Field I, starting from July 2023, a salary cut has been made against the person concerned.

"Including remuneration and personnel punishment, namely lowering the rank of one level as of August 2023. Not only that, the case is currently also in the legal process at the Padang District Attorney," he said.

Efforts to resolve losses to related parties carried out by Unand were postponed until they received legal clarity and certainty.

This delay was made to avoid maladministration, and violations of provisions related to state financial management.
