JAKARTA - Forest and land fires (karhutla) still hit the slopes of Mount Agung, Karangasem Regency, Bali on Friday, September 29 this morning. Joint officers are still making efforts to extinguish the fire. Pusdatinkom Disaster National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Abdul Muhari said, forest fields at the burning point made it difficult for officers to extinguish the fire. "The location of the burning area was blocked by road access to the hotspots. In addition, the location of the burning area was well above the mountain slopes," said Abdul Muhari in his statement, Friday, September 29. The Karangasem Regency Operations Control Center reported that the forest fire had occurred in the slopes of Mount Agung since Thursday, September 28. The fire was first identified at 08.00 WITA. Identification of the officers, the burning area includes plants such as sonokeling, Acale, dried grass, and shrubs. This event is also in Juntal Hamlet, Kubu Village, Kubu District. The information was first reported by Babinsa Kubu, which mentioned the presence of thick smoke on the slopes of the mountain. "It is not yet known the cause of the forest fires," said Abdul Muhari. The joint team that attempted to extinguish the fire came from the Karangasem Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the fire department, RPH Kubu, Bhabinkamtibmas, Babinsa, and the local community. Meanwhile, forest fires also occurred in the Forest Management Resort area or RPH Daya which is located in the Technical Imple Unit of the East Bali Forest Management Unit. Fire events occurred in Hamlet Banong, Ban Village and Juntal Hamlet, Kubu Village. These two villages were in the Kubu sub-district. The monitoring on Thursday night, at 20.25 WITA, RPH Kubu informed there were 1 hotspots in its region, while RPH Daya said 2 hotspots around the Hamlet forest, Ban Village. "According to reports on Thursday, fire spreads to the lower, north and northwest regions. However, efforts to extinguish the northern regions are focused on the north, while the outage in the northwest side was hampered by distance and steep terrain," he explained.

Pada Kamis malam, sebagian titik api berhasil dikendali. Sementara beberapa titik masih membahaya karena posisi yang sulit dan angin kencang. Estimasikan luas kebakaran di wilayah RPH Daya sekitar 80 hektar, sedangkan kerugian material dan lingkungan masih dalam pengetahan. Otoritas RPH masih menyelidiki penyebab kahutla yang terjadi di wilayah RPH Kubu, kemudian merambat ke wilayah RPH Daya.
