AHY Announces Official Democrats Supporting Prabowo For Presidential Candidate 2024, Responds To Greetings Prabowo

Chairman of the Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) officially announced that his party supports Prabowo Subianto as a presidential candidate in the 2024 presidential election.

This was revealed by AHY at the National Leadership Meeting (Rapimnas) of the Democratic Party at the Jakarta Covition Center (JCC).

"On September 21, 2023 at the national leadership meeting of the democratic party, located at the Jakarta Convention Center, I am Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, the General Chair of the Democratic Party officially and openly declare Mr. Prabowo Subianto as a presidential candidate for the Republic of Indonesia in the 2024 election," said AHY, Thursday, September 21.

A moment AHY announced the support, Prabowo, who was also present at the event, immediately stood up, saluting AHY who was giving a speech on stage.

AHY assessed that Indonesia needs leaders who can face geopolitical challenges, economy, welfare, and the threat of a climate and environmental crisis.

He also said that the figure of an Indonesian leader must be able to embrace all groups. According to Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's son, Prabowo is a figure in accordance with the criteria for the borrower in question.

"Finally, we need a visionary leader or man of action, to bring continuity and change to Indonesia in the future, to be more fair to the people, and to lead to democracy," said AHY.

"The figure of the leader with the criteria is in the midst of us at this time. Mr. Prabowo Subianto," he added.

The Democratic Party finally joined the Forward Indonesia Coalition to support Prabowo Subianto in the 2024 presidential election. This decision was taken after the party bearing the Mercy Star symbol revoked cooperation with the party supporting Anies Baswedan who collaborated with Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin as a vice presidential candidate (cawapres).

This support is the result of the decision of the Party High Council (MTP). Prabowo has also met with AHY and MTP Chairman Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and the Democratic Party elite at his residence, Hambalang, West Java on Sunday, September 17.
