Former GM PT Antam Sued 7.5 Years In Prison

JAKARTA - Former General Manager (GM) of the Mulia Metal Purification and Processing Business Unit (UBPP LM) PT Aneka Tambang (Antam) Tbk. Dody Marbangi was sentenced to 7.5 years in prison in a case of corruption in the metal anode processing cooperation between PT Antam Tbk. and PT Loco Montrado.

The KPK prosecutor assessed that Dody Marbeli was legally and convincingly proven guilty of violating Article 2 paragraph (1) of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law no. 20 of 2001 in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code.

"As in the first alternative indictment," said Gina Saraswati.

In bringing down the charges, the KPK prosecutor considered a number of aggravating and mitigating things. The aggravating thing is that Dody Marbeli's actions do not support efforts to eradicate corruption.

His actions tarnished the image of PT Antam Tbk. which is a state-owned enterprise (BUMN) in the mining sector, which according to the KPK prosecutor should be an example of the implementation of good corporate governance.

"The defendant was convoluted at the trial. The defendant resulted in a huge financial loss for PT Antam Tbk. In total it was Rp. 107,507,851,104.35," continued Gina.

Meanwhile, the mitigating factors on the defendant are that the person concerned has never been convicted and has family responsibilities.

In this case, Dody Marnali was charged with corruption in processing gold and silver metals into gold bars.
