Only September, Firefighters Recorded Forest And Land Fires In Bandar Lampung Capai Dozens Of Hectares

LAMPUNG - The Fire and Rescue Service noted that forest and land fires (karhutla) in Bandar Lampung reached tens of hectares in September 2023.

"This land fire is spread across 11 sub-districts from 20 sub-districts throughout Bandarlampung, but there have been no reports of casualties or injuries," said Bandar Lampung City Fire and Rescue Service Anthoni Irawan, in Bandar Lampung, Wednesday, September 20, as reported by Antara.

During the period 1'19 September 2023, it was recorded that forest and land fires in Bandar Lampung occurred in Bumi Waras, Peace, Kemiling, Labuhan Ratu, Sukabumi, Sukarame, West Tanjungkarang, East Tanjungkarang, Telukbetung Selatan, Telukbetung Timur, and Way Halim.

He explained that the location of the forest and land fires in Bandar Lampung City, namely in Bumi Waras District, an empty land covering an area of 10,500 square meters on Gunung Kunyit Beach Street, Sukaraja Village. The vacant land is eight hundred square meters on Jalan Ikan Selar RT. 09 LK. Sukaraja Village I, an alang-alang area of 30 square meters on Jalan Ikan Terbang (Gunung Kunyit), Bumi Waras Village.

Then, in Kecamatan Subdistrict, vacant land covering an area of 2,09 hectares on Durian Street, Tanjung Damai Lestari Housing, Tanjung Raya Village, vacant land covering an area of approximately 300 hectares on Pangeran Antasari Street, Gg Baru 1 Village, and vacant land covering an area of 2,200 square meters on Yasir Hadibroto Street, Tanjung Gading Village.

Kemiling District, kelang-alang land covering an area of 044 hectares on Bukit Kemiling Permai Housing Road (BKP/front SMPN 28) Kemilling Permai Village, empty land covering an area of 561 hectares on Jalan Cakrawala Housing Village, Beringin Raya Village, kelang-alang area of 041 hectares on Jalan Raya Pinang Jaya, Pinang Village, empty land covering an area of 10,600 m2 on Jalan Cik Ditiro (beyond Super Indo) Beringin Raya Village. Telukbetung Timur Subdistrict empty land covering an area of approximately 300 square meters on Jalan RE Marthadinata, Sukamaju Village, vacant land covering an area of 0.10 hectares on Jalan Zulkarnain Subing RT 02 and Jalan Umbul Kunci Sukamaju Village, vacant land covering an area of 0.200 square meters on Jalan RE Martadinata RT 01 LK I Sukamaju Village, vacant land covering an area of 0.500 square meters on Jalan RE Marthadinata RT 2 LK II Gang Cikdin Sukamaju Village.

Way Halim District, vacant land covering an area of 6,600 square meters on Jalan Bypass Soekarno-Hatta, Way Halim Permai Village.

Head of the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Bandar Lampung City, Ahmad Husna, said that the El Nino phenomenon caused the potential for forest and land fires to rise.

"The fire of open land is at several points, such as Jalan Pangeran M Noor and the Way Halim area. However, for handling it, we did it together with the Fire Department," he said.

Of course, he continued, the Bandarlampung City Government as well, through BPBD and the fire department, are trying to take mitigation steps for local communities affected by El Nino.

"In addition to anticipating the fire, we were ordered by the Mayor to supply water to all areas of the city affected by the drought due to El Nino," he said.
