Tuesday Morning, Jokowi Blusukan At Jatinegara Market Jakarta Checks Food Prices

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo inspects prices and supplies of basic commodities (sembako) at the Bali Mester Jatinegara Market, East Jakarta, Tuesday, September 19.

Jokowi arrived at the Bali Mester Market at around 07.05 WIB and was greeted by the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono and his ranks. Jokowi and his entourage then conducted a look into the market.

Jokowi started his visit by inspecting the wet loss area where chicken and meat sellers are right in front of the Pasar Area 8 Office.

The traders and the public seemed enthusiastic about greeting Jokowi.

In addition to reviewing prices and supply of basic commodities, Jokowi also distributed social assistance to local communities and traders.

A vegetable ketupat trader named Safrudin said Jokowi had asked about the turnover and the benefits he got from selling ketupat sayur.

"The president asked for turnover and profit. I said turnover per day was IDR 300 thousand, fortunately IDR 50 thousand," said Safrudin.

He also admitted to getting an envelope containing money from Jokowi.

"He said Rp1,200,000," he added.

Safrudin also thanked Jokowi for the assistance he provided and prayed for the success of leading Indonesia until the end of his term of office.
