Claimed To Be On The Exchange For The Captain Of The AMIN Winning Team, Najwa Shihab: I Have Not Communication With Anyone

JAKARTA - Journalist Najwa Shihab emphasized that he was not interested in becoming the head of the winning team for the Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin (AMIN) coalition. He also said that there had never been any communication with other parties or the National Awakening Party (PKB).

This was conveyed by Najwa in response to the emergence of his name as one of the candidates for the captain of the AMIN National Team. It was Cak Imin who brought up the name of the journalist.

"I clarify that I will not be involved as part of the successful team of candidates and / or any party in the 2024 presidential or legislative elections," Najwa said in a written statement to reporters, Monday, September 18.

"I have never even communicated about this with any party, including from PKB," he continued.

Najwa said he would become an independent civil society. "Especially the press community in overseeing the democratic transition process so that it takes place not only for good but also for quality," he said.

Cak Imin said his winning team in the 2024 presidential election was still being discussed. They are still looking for the names of the figures who are considered appropriate.

"All alternatives. Nothing is certain yet. One of them is Najwa Shihab, all kinds of things. Many names. Not yet, not yet, (medium, red) is being discussed," he said in a written statement received by reporters, Monday, September 18.

Previously, the Change Coalition held its inaugural meeting to discuss the administrative preparations for the AMIN pair to become the first registrant of presidential and vice presidential candidates at the KPU. The discussion was attended by officials from the NasDem Party, PKB and PKS accompanied by representatives of the secretary-general at NasDem Tower in Menteng, Central Jakarta, Monday, September 18.

"This is our inaugural meeting after the Shura Council declared its support for Pak Muhaimin as vice president. At the inaugural meeting we wanted to compete quickly, because in accordance with the direction of our leadership, we were asked to become the first candidate applicant later if the KPU opened registration," said NasDem Secretary General Hermawi Taslim during a press conference at NasDem Tower, Monday, September 18.

Hermawi said Anies-Imin's winning team focused on working and preparing for administrative completeness to the KPU. He claims that the readiness of AMIN pairs to register has almost one hundred percent.

"So, apart from the secretary general of the three parties, there is Pak Anies' team, hopefully our readiness will be at 85 percent meeting, because each office has prepared itself on its laptop. This is our preparation to register 85 percent and we are determined to be the first registrant," he said.
