Democrats Will Announce Coalition Direction Next Week

JAKARTA - The Democrat Party will announce the direction of the 2024 presidential election coalition next week after revoking support for Anies Baswedan as a candidate for the 2024 presidential candidate.

Currently, the party chaired by the Chairman of the Democratic Party, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono or AHY, is considering supporting Prabowo Subianto or Ganjar Pranowo.

"The direction of our coalition or cooperation in the future, we may only convey it to the public next week," said Head of the Democratic Bakomstra Herzaky Mahendra Putra to reporters, Saturday, September 16.

Herzaky revealed that AHY is currently drafting recommendations for the direction of the Democratic coalition which will be submitted to the High Council of the Democratic Party.

"Please give space and time to Mas AHY, our chairman and the ranks of the DPP board in drafting recommendations to be submitted and decided by the Party High Council where the coalition direction or cooperation of the Democratic Party is going forward," said Herzaky.

"Please pray, we want the best for the people, nation, and this country," he added.

It is known that the Democratic Party has declared it out of the Coalition for Change and will no longer cooperate with NasDem and PKS after Anies chose PKB Chairman Muhaimin Iskandar as vice presidential candidate. The Democrats were then invited by PAN to support Prabowo Subianto and join the Advanced Indonesia Coalition with Gerindra, Golkar, PBB and Gelora.Democrats were also offered to close to the PDI-P and support Ganjar Pranowo. Democrats were also hit by the issue of creating a new axis with PPP.
