The Discourse On The Merger Of MRT And LRT Jakarta Management Appears

There is a discourse on the merger of two modes of transportation managed by two DKI BUMDs, namely MRT Jakarta operated by PT MRT Jakarta and LRT Jakarta operated by PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro).

This was revealed in the working meeting of Commission B of the DKI Jakarta DPRD with the BUMD ranks who discussed the Raperda on Amendments to the DKI Jakarta Provincial Budget for Fiscal Year 2023.

Initially, Member of Commission B of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Wahyu Dewanto expressed his hope that the Jakarta MRT and Jakarta LRT could be merged into one company.

Because, according to him, Jakpro's performance as the parent company of the Jakarta LRT is not focused on running its business focus, namely property, infrastructure, utilities, and information technology.

"I hope the MRT-LRT will be the only one. So, let Jakpro focus on its field. Try that's my hope," Wahyu said on Thursday, September 14.

Responding to this, the President Director of PT MRT Jakarta Tuhiyat admitted that the discourse had actually been considered for a long time. In fact, the DKI Provincial Government is said to be reviewing the merger of the two companies.

"This is an integration process that is now happening and God willing, there is a DKI Jakarta Provincial Government in the current study process," said Tuhiyat.

Continuing, the President Director of PT Jakpro Iwan Takwin also admitted that his party had begun to review the plan to merge MRT Jakarta and LRT Jakarta into a rail-based transportation business entity.

"Actually, we have done the study together, so that when it is decided to become a railway transportation entity, we are ready. So, these studies, we have carried out these possibilities so that our development business can also think further," explained Iwan.
