Cak Imin's Examination In Corruption Cases Is Considered To Be Involved In Legal Politicization, Firli: The KPK Is Independent

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed that the examination of Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin as a witness to allegations of corruption in the procurement of the Indonesian labor protection system (TKI) in 2012 is not a form of legal politicization. This process is said to be in accordance with their main duties and functions.

This was conveyed by KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri in response to accusations by a number of his institutions in politics. This is because Cak Imin's examination is considered to coincide with his announcement as a vice presidential candidate (cawapres) Anies Baswedan.

"What the KPK is doing is a legal process. The KPK institution is an independent state institution," Firli said in a written statement quoted on Friday, September 8.

Firli confirmed that the institution he leads is now in the executive family. However, he emphasized that no one could influence the KPK.

In addition, he asked for the polemic of legal politicization because Cak Imin's summons was stopped. According to Firli, this effort actually aims to make the corruption case being handled clear.

"KPK does not work with the possibility but we work with the principles of criminal procedural law principles and the KPK upholds the principles of carrying out our main tasks," he said.

As previously reported, Cak Imin had provided information before KPK investigators regarding the alleged corruption at the Ministry of Manpower on Thursday, September 7. After being questioned for five hours, he admitted that he had explained everything he knew.

"Everything I've heard and God willing, everything I remember, all I know I've explained," he told reporters at the KPK's Red and White House.

He hopes that the KPK will immediately resolve the corruption case in the procurement of the TKI protection system. Cak Imin felt that his explanation was clear even though he did not want to go into detail.

As for this case, the anti-corruption commission has announced that three suspects have been named in the case of procuring the protection system. Secretary of the Planning and Development Agency of the Ministry of Manpower I Nyoman Darmanta is reportedly one of the parties involved.
