2 Fishermen's Ships Behind The Waves, 8 People Reported Missing In Blitar Waters

BLITAR - Sector Police officers Wonotirto, Blitar Regency, East Java, handled the incident of two ships that were hit by waves and overturned while searching for fish in Gayasan Beach, Bakung District, Blitar Regency, west of Tambakrejo Beach, Wonotirto District, local district. Head of Wonotirto Police AKP Supriadi stated the beginning of the incident, there were two fishing vessels departing from Prigi Beach, Trenggalek Regency, on Wednesday afternoon around 16.00 WIB to Blitar. "In Blitar it was approximately until 20.00 WIB with the aim of fishing. There, after an hour (21.00 WIB) there was a bad weather change, finally the ship was hit by waves," he said in Blitar quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, September 7. He revealed that the captain planned to return to Prigi Beach, Trenggalek, was traveling back via the coast, but due to the large waves of the ship being thrown away so that it capsized. At the time of the ship's incident, the crew members (ABK) tried to save themselves at Gayasan Beach, west of Tambakrejo Beach, Blitar. The incident caused the condition of the ship to reverse and the ship's progenitor to be stranded on Gayasan Beach, Blitar. At that time, it was known that there were quite a number of crew members. In the front of the ship there were 17 people, while in the back of the ship there were still five people. Of that number, four people in the front ship still have not been found and four others from the rear ship have not been found. For the identity of the crew on the front ship that has not been found are Asrofi, Dio, Juki, Pak Tris Wine, while the crew in the ship behind is Ali, Manto, Didik and Imam. Up to date, police assisted by the SAR and volunteers team are still looking for the ABKs who have not been found yet.

For the victims found safe, some of them were treated for injuries. "From that incident, five people have been taken to the Wonotirto Health Center and two were referred to the hospital for broken bones. For the eight are still looking, because the location is difficult, to the west of Tambakrejo Beach," said the police chief.
