NasDem Ready To Accept Consequences If PKS Doesn't Support Anies-Cak Imin

Deputy Chairperson of the NasDem Party Ahmad Ali said his party was ready to accept the consequences if in the end PKS did not support the presidential and vice presidential candidate pair Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar (Anies-Cak Imin) in the 2024 presidential election. According to Ali, every political decision always has consequences to face.

"I don't want to make assumptions, but in every political decision, there must always be consequences that we receive," said Ali, Wednesday, September 6.

Nasdem, he said, also respects the decisions that will be taken by PKS because each party has sovereignty. However, Ali believes that PKS will join the Anies-Cak Imin coalition.

"That's PKS sovereignty. We can't force it. But once again, PKS has announced Anies as its presidential reading. Then if he rejects Cak Imin, automatically rejects Anies too. If of course PKS does not have the same intentions as that," said Ali.

Ali is also optimistic that PKS will immediately express support for Anies-Cak Imin. However, his party appreciates the internal PKS mechanism that is waiting for the party's syuro assembly's decision to make a decision to determine the presidential and vice presidential candidate pairs for the 2024 presidential election.

"They are waiting for an internal mechanism. So there is indeed an internal mechanism to regulate that the president and vice president are determined by the syuro assembly. However, it feels (PKS) not proposing a name (readwapres)," concluded Ali.

It is known that Cak Imin's determination as an anti-presidential reading of Anies Baswedan was unilaterally carried out without any communication with the Democratic Party and PKS. In fact, the Democratic Party and PKS are members of the Change coalition for Unity (KPP) with Nasdem who carried Anies Baswedan as a presidential reading in 2024.

For this decision, the Democratic Party felt betrayed and decided to leave the Change coalition for Unity. Meanwhile, the chairman of the PKS faction, Jazuli Juwaini, said that the determination of Cak Imin as Anies' vice president should be an important lesson for Anies and his supporting coalition parties, so that communication is improved.

"For PKS, because it prioritizes the interests of the nation, and the state and togetherness, never mind, we will give you my record. This future communication is improved," concluded Jazuli.
