Indonesian Citizens Clash With Indonesian Citizens In Taiwan, One Died-15 People Arrested

JAKARTA - Director of Protection for Indonesian Citizens and Indonesian Legal Entities (BHI) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Judha Nugraha said one Indonesian citizen died in a fight between Indonesian citizens in Taiwan.

According to Judha, the Taipei Indonesian Trade and Economy Office (KDEI) received information from the Changhua Police regarding a fight between Indonesian citizens in front of Changhua Train Station on Sunday (3/9).

The fight involved 30 Indonesian citizens and left 1 Indonesian citizen dead and 1 Indonesian citizen injured. After undergoing treatment at the hospital, one of the injured victims on September 4 was declared cured," Judha said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 5.

The Changhua Police have named 15 Indonesian citizens as perpetrators and the case files have been submitted to the Changhua District Attorney.

Judha said Taipei would facilitate the repatriation of the bodies of one Indonesian citizen and coordinate with Changhua authorities for legal assistance against 15 detained Indonesian citizens.

"KDEI will also facilitate communication between Indonesian citizens so that similar cases do not happen again," said Judha.

Judha continued, the fight between Indonesian citizens was very regrettable because they should be the ambassadors of the Indonesian nation and be able to show the attitude and behavior of the Indonesian people abroad.

"We strongly urge that the harmony of fellow Indonesian citizens abroad can always be maintained," said Judhamenambah.
