JAKARTA - Police personnel imposed an open-closed road system when the delegation of participants of the 43rd High-Level Conference (KTT) ASEAN passed at a number of points on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman heading to the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) Senayan, Jakarta on Monday 4 September.Perwira who was on guard at the Semanggi Interchange Police Post, AKP Supratman, said the traffic engineering was carried out according to the time when there were delegates or heads of state participating in the 43rd ASEAN Summit passing. "We have temporarily engineered it. If the schedule is there, but we just rely on direct communication from the radio," Supratman said as quoted by ANTARA. The open-close system was enforced at 07.45 WIB on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, precisely in front of Jalan Pintu Gelora Bung Karno, when there were a number of vehicles from the Cambodian state delegation. During that closure, police personnel and the transportation service temporarily suspended the traffic flow from the direction of the Youth Statue. The closure took place for about a minute. In addition, the engineering was also enforced at the Semanggi Interchange at around 08.30 WIB. At that time, vehicles from Jalan Gatot Subroto which led north via Jalan Sudirman were temporarily suspended when there was a delegation of the state of the 4rd KTT leader of the ASEAN that passed. The traffic engineering imposed at that morning coincided with the busy hours when the community departed for work. The density of vehicles that occurred on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman and its surroundings also occurred as usual when conditions were normal. Although several times it was applied open-closed, the traffic flow on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman which led to the north was in a smooth condition. A number of police also remained on standby to secure traffic flow during the presence of delegations or heads of state.

Jalan Jenderal Sudirman is one of 29 roads in Jakarta that were affected by traffic engineering during the implementation of the 43rd ASEAN Summit. DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency also prepared traffic alternatives when the 29 roads were subject to traffic engineering. The alternative road adjusts to six locations for the ASEAN 43rd Summit.
