Three members of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) Kodap III Ndugama were reported killed in an ambush operation carried out by a joint TNI force in Aluguru Village, Nduga Regency.

Pangdam XVII/Cenderawasih, Maj. Gen. Izak Pangemanan revealed that the ambush on the KKB headquarters of Egianus Kogoya was a response to the attack previously carried out by the KKB on civilians in the Batu Boundary area.

"This ambush is an act of retaliation for the KKB attack on civilians at Batu Boundary some time ago," said Major General Izak on Sunday, September 3.

Major General Izak explained that the ambush took place at 03.16 WIT in the morning on September 1, 2023. During the gun battle, three KKB members were killed, including Army Tabuni (Danyon Aluguru), Change Gwijangge, and another person who had not been identified.

The Pangdam emphasized that the presence of the TNI in the community aims to maintain security and provide a sense of security to residents. "If the community feels disturbed, the TNI will act," said the Pangdam.

This ambush operation involved a joint team, including the Taipur Team Task Force, Battalion Battalion MR 411, and the Elang Task Force led by Major Inf Cosmos. This operation lasted for several weeks in the Matoa area, Alguru Village, Krepkuri District, Nduga Regency, Papua Mountains Province, and ended on September 1, 2023.

The ambush team managed to secure a number of evidences, including firearms, ammunition, equipment, and documents indicating TPNPB-OPM activities. "In this operation, there were no casualties on the TNI," said the Pangdam.
