Niger Junta Cuts Electricity And Water Supply To French Embassy

JAKARTA - The Niger military junta cut off water and electricity supplies to the French Embassy in the capital Niamey and banned food deliveries to the embassy.

The country's leaders have also taken similar action at the French consulate in Zinder.

As reported by ANTARA from Anadolu, Monday, August 28, the President of the National Support Committee for the National Council of National Protection (CNSP), Elh Issa Hassoumi Boureima, has asked all French partners in Nigeragar to stop the supply of water and electricity and food products.

Not only that, all parties who assist France in the process of providing goods and services will be considered the 'host of the sovereign people'.

The report on the termination comes after the expiration of the two-day deadline given by the Niger military government to the French ambassador to leave the country.

Previously, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Niger junta gave Ambassador Syl Maritime Itte 48 hours to leave the Niger region amid tensions that have risen in recent weeks since military intervention.

Niger was hit by chaos when General Abdourahamane Tchiani, a former commander of the presidential guard, led a military intervention that toppled President Mohamed Bazoum on July 26.

Earlier this month, France launched an operation to evacuate its citizens and other nationals from Niamey.
