BANDUNG - The Bandung Regency Environment Agency (DLH) has asked and encouraged all stakeholders to play an active role in responding to the fire at the Sarimukti Final Disposal Site (TPA) since August 19, 2023, which has not yet been extinguished.
"I invite all parties to actively participate in overcoming this emergency situation in order to maintain the environment and cleanliness related to the current situation at the Sarimukti TPA," said Head of the Bandung Regency Environment Agency Asep Kusumah in Soreang Bandung, Antara, Friday, August 25.
The involvement of all parties, said Asep, is needed because the Sarimukti TPA fire, which is still growing and expanding to various TPA disposal zones, will more or less have an impact on waste management in Bandung Regency.
"On existing developments, we must immediately respond quickly and precisely through good and implementative steps," he said.
The involvement of all stakeholders, he continued, is crucial in dealing with emergency situations in conditions of disruption of Sarimukti TPA operations and uncertainty in the handling time as a whole.
For this reason, Asep hopes that all parties can take steps to deal with this waste emergency condition, the first, the regional apparatus of the sub-district heads, village heads, and village heads, are expected to play a role in conveying information about the development of the Sarimukti TPA condition and socializing waste handling in stages to the community through the heads of RW, RT, and other village institutions.
Then, the sub-district heads, village heads, and village heads were instructed to carry out intensive monitoring, guidance, supervision, and evaluation of waste processing facilities in their respective regions.
Furthermore, leaders of agencies, government agencies, BUMN, BUMD, mass organizations, and community institutions are asked to play an active role in inviting the community to manage 3R-based waste (reduce, reuse, recycle).
Then, Asep said that his party would carry out emergency measures including providing additional waste containers or using larger garbage containers to collect more waste.
"As well as the use of organic smart holes (LCO) or biopore infiltration holes (LRB) will also be carried out for handling household organic waste," he said.
"With close collaboration and joint action, it is hoped that it can provide more effective results in facing this challenge," he said.
