Soetta Airport Customs Thwarts Illegal Drug Delivery To Kyrgyzstan Worth IDR 1.4 Billion

TANGERANG - Soekarno Hatta Airport (Soetta) Customs and Excise thwarted illegal drug smuggling reaching Rp1.4 billion. Information said that the drug would be brought to Kyrgyzstan.

"Successful in securing evidence in the form of illegal traditional medicines worth Rp. 1,416,000,000 which were included in the public warning of the Indonesian POM," said Head of the Information and Investigation Division of Customs Soekarno Hatta, Zaky Firmasyah in his statement, Wednesday, August 23.

"The medicines are notified as herbal media in the customs documents," he continued.

Zaky explained that the action began with information on surveillance activities by the Customs and Excise investigator team at Soekarno Hatta Airport. They indicated that there was a large number of illegal shipments to Kyrgyzstan.

In addition, his party also received information on the submission of a Goods Export Notification (PEB) on exporters with the initials of a PDM company located in the Jakarta area which was notified as an herbal media.

Based on this information, said Zaky, his party conducted an examination of the shipment which was at the PT JAS Export Warehouse, Soekarno-Hatta Airport Cargo area.

(The results) were found that 3 types of traditional medicine consisting of 20 PK 100 Kartons, 15 PK 2 Cartons, and 25 PK 2 cartons were found. In total, 200 cartons of evidence were found weighing 1,845 kg," he concluded.
