There Is No Spike In ARI Patients In Central Jakarta Even Though The Weather Is Bad

The Central Jakarta Health Office (Sudinkes Jakpus) claims there has been no spike in cases of Acute Channel Respiratory Infection (ISPA) in Central Jakarta even though Jakarta's air quality continues to deteriorate.

"There has been no spike until now as usual. People may think ARI is an acute respiratory infection. Actually, the ARI disease is present at any time," said Head of the Central Jakarta Health Sub-dept., Rismasari, to reporters, Tuesday, August 15.

Rismasari appealed to the public to continue to guard themselves to prevent being exposed to ISPA.

"Some examples are diligently washing hands with soap, getting enough rest, exercising regularly, not smoking, and eating balanced nutrition," he said.

Rismasari also asked people to wear masks if they were suffering from ARI.

"Then, cover the nose and mouth when sneezing or coughing," he added.

Meanwhile, from the records of the Central Jakarta Health Sub-dept., there were 132,851 cases of ARI until July 2023.

The DKI Jakarta Health Office noted that an average of one hundred thousand residents in Jakarta are infected with respiratory tract infections or ARI every month.

Based on data from the ISPA report in DKI Jakarta in 2023, there were 102,609 cases of ARI in January, 104,638 cases in February, 119,734 in March, 109,705 in April, 99,130 in May, and 102,475 in June.
