JAKARTA - The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) is ready to provide protection for victims of sexual harassment at the Miss Universe Indonesia beauty pageant.
Deputy Chairperson of LPSK Maneger Nasution said LPSK had received the arrival of Melisa Anggraini as the attorney of the four victims.
"During the meeting, the attorney consulted about a form of protection that could be accessed by the victims," said Maneger in a written statement reported by ANTARA, Saturday, August 12.
Maneger said LPSK has several protection programs that can be accessed by victims.
These programs include legal protection if they receive back reports from the organizers and other parties and facilitation of restitution in the application of the Law on the Crime of Sexual Violence (TPKS).
"If there is a threat or intimidation, physical protection can also be given," he said
However, Maneger said that until now, LPSK had not received formal applications from the victims.
"However, LPSK is ready to process and provide protection if the victims apply for protection in accordance with applicable regulations," he said.
