Menteng Residents Complain About The Condition Of The Semerawut Cable

JAKARTA - The condition of the cable that is chaotic on Jalan Cikini IV, Menteng District, Central Jakarta, has begun to be complained of by local residents.

"I think this is very chaotic. It's quite dangerous, especially since it's where pedestrians pass," said Karyo, one of the motorcyclists, Monday, August 7.

Karyo said that the cable greatly disturbed the access road and activities of residents, especially the chaotic cable network was on the sidewalk. In addition, Karyo explained that the view of the chaotic cable had been going on for a long time and had not been repaired.

"I don't know who the cable network belongs to and what it's for. The Semerawut Cable network hasn't been repaired for a long time," he said.

Karyo hopes that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will immediately fix the chaotic cable network. Because, Karyo continued, he was worried that the cable would threaten road users and residents who happened to pass.

"It's better to just fix it so it doesn't mess up like that. It's also scary if something unexpected happens like an electric shock or a burning cable," he said.

As is known, Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono directed the Assistant Secretariat of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government for Development and Environment (Asbang) to summon companies providing telecommunications networks in Jakarta.

"Asbang and his staff invite all cable owners to be tidied up," said Heru after the plenary meeting of the DKI Jakarta DPRD on Friday, August 4.

This follows after two accidents involving fiber optic cables. The first accident occurred on January 5, 2023, on Pangeran Antasari Street, South Jakarta which resulted in the victim's serious injury to the throat.

The second accident occurred on July 28 at Jl Brigadier General Katamso, Palmerah, West Jakarta. In this accident, the victim of an online motorcycle taxi driver died.
