Polda Metro Says Cables in Jakarta Are Chaotic

JAKARTA - Metro Jaya Police stated that there are still many chaotic cables on the capital's roads. In fact, this matter has been conveyed to policymakers for immediate improvement.

This statement was in response to the case that happened to Sultan Rif'at Alfatih which was caused by a dangling optical cable in the South Jakarta area.

"There are several road sections where the cables are chaotic, we have also informed the city planners and project organizers about this," said Metro Jaya Police Traffic Director Kombes Latif Usman to journalists, quoted on Saturday, August 5.

Not only about chaotic cables, it is claimed that the police have also reported other problems related to cables to policymakers. For example, excavations to street lighting. This problem must be resolved immediately because it affects people's safety when driving.

"Actually, we have reminded them several times, such as when the lights are off. Continue digging, not just cables. For example, there are cables that are missing, we also convey this to the relevant parties. Because we are an inseparable unit," he said.

Apart from that, Latif also asked the workers or companies installing the cables to adjust the vehicle height. So that later it will not get stuck or have a bad impact on other drivers.

"So it's higher. Finding a road that can pass at that height means that the workers installing the facilities must of course comply with that provision. They must know whether the road is for motorbikes, only for trucks, or whether it has to be small vehicles. Drivers must comply with this. "If not, what height should it be, it has to be adjusted," he explained.

Regarding the Sultan case, Latif said that his party would encourage the company to take responsibility. So, all parties will get a sense of justice.

"The important thing is that we prioritize the Sultan's safety. The cable side is responsible for the process. We will encourage them to be responsible for the Sultan's safety," concluded Latif.
