Bareskrim Withdraws All Reports On Rocky Gerung

The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police will withdraw all police reports (LP) and complaints related to the alleged spread of fake news to hate speech with reported Rocky Gerung scattered throughout the regional police ranks.

The National Police received 13 LPs and two complaints following Rocky Gerung's statement which was deemed to be ginating President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

"Further technicalities, of course, we will withdraw some of these LPs and complaints to Bareskrim for further investigation," said Director of General Crimes at Bareskrim Polri Brigadier General Djuhandani Rahardjo Puro to reporters, Friday, August 4.

For complaints, one of them was immediately addressed to the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. While the other was received by the Yogyakarta Regional Police.

As for the LP, it is said that there are 13 that have been received at the Bareskrim Polri level and the regional police ranks.

In detail, Bareskrim Polri received one LP; Polda Metro Jaya there are three LPs; Polda North Sumatra received three LPs; Polda East Kalimantan three LPs, and Polda Central Kalimantan handling three LPs.

"We don't differentiate between police reports or complaints because these two are the basis for us to carry out further investigations," he said.

On the other hand, Djuhandani emphasized that the reports and complaints that had been received at all levels of the National Police were not about the alleged criminal act of insulting the President. Rather, hate speech to the spread of fake news.

The alleged criminal act is included in the ordinary offense category. Therefore, Polda Metro accepted it and is currently starting to be investigated.

Ordinary offenses are criminal cases that can be processed without any approval or report from the party who has been harmed or the victim.

"So in the meantime the existing police reports are related to Article 14, 15 of Law Number 1 of 1946," said Djuhandani.

Dozens of reports and complaints started with podcast content broadcast on YouTube Refly Harun. Rocky Gerung's statement at the event was considered to contain elements of insulting Jokowi and unethical.

Some of Rocky Gerung's words or statements that are considered to contain hate speech are;

"Once Jokowi loses his power he becomes an ordinary person, no one cares later. But Jokowi's ambition is to maintain his legacy. He offers IKN, pacing to the coalition, to find clarity on his fate," said Rocky in the video.

"He thinks his fate is not our fate, it's b****n yang t*l, sekaligus b***ng*n mengguruh. Kalau dia b***ng*n smart, dia mau terima berbahan dengan Jumhur Hidayat. Ajaib, b**ng*n tapi mengguruh," lanjut Rocky mengkritik Jokowi.
