Police Arrest Pertamina Tank Driver Persecution In Tasikmalaya

TASIKMALAYA - Tasikmalaya Police, West Java, arrested two people and one person is still at large, the perpetrator of the beating against the Pertamina tank driver on the Kawalu District highway, Tasikmalaya City, West Java, causing the victim to be injured and must receive medical treatment.

"For the perpetrators, two have been arrested, one is still a DPO (people disbursement list)," said Deputy Chief of the Tasikmalaya City Police, Kompol Dhoni Erwanto, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, August 3.

The two suspects who were arrested with the initials FR (31) and AFS (25), both of them while carrying out the persecution carried a city transportation car for the Tasikmalaya City route.

The beating, he said, took place on Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan, Kawalu District, Tasikmalaya City, on July 4, 2023, and since then the police have conducted an investigation to be able to reveal it.

The police, he said, succeeded in uncovering the case of abuse based on the results of the investigation of the crime scene and CCTV footage around the scene, so it was discovered that the perpetrators were three people.

He conveyed the results of the interim examination, the suspect abused the Pertamina tank driver because he was under the influence of alcohol.

Prior to the incident, the perpetrator who was driving an angkot was not happy because he was overtaken by the victim who was carrying a tanker truck, and felt challenged by a waving driver.

"The two vehicles clashed when the tank was about to overtake the angkot," he said.

The perpetrator then tried to stop the tank truck at the scene of the incident, a driver and his assistant were abused by the perpetrator, after which the perpetrator fled.

Dhoni said that he not only secured the perpetrators, but also a number of evidences used by the perpetrators to gang up on the victim in the form of wheel locks and iron pipes, then the perpetrator's clothes.

As a result of his actions, the suspect had to languish in the Tasikmalaya City Police Detention Center to undergo a legal process, and was charged with Article 170 of the Criminal Code concerning persecution with a threat of five years in prison.
