The North Sumatra DPRD will propose three candidates for the Governor of North Sumatra to the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) after holding a meeting of the leaders of the local regional council.

"The proposal for the name of the Acting Governor of North Sumatra, no later than August 4, 2023, will be submitted to the Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri)," said North Sumatra DPRD Chairman Bakasmi Ginting, in Medan, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, August 3.

Ginting said this decision was made in a meeting with the leadership of the council as well as the leaders of their respective factions to provide the proposed names.

"The meeting for proposing the names of the candidates for the Acting Governor of North Sumatra by holding a board leadership meeting with factions in the North Sumatra DPRD earlier," he said.

The meeting decided on the proposal of three candidates for the Acting Governor of North Sumatra, namely the North Sumatra Regional Secretary Arief Sudarto Trinugroho, Director General of Domestic Administration Safrizal and Deputy for the Determination and Protection of the America and Pacific Region BP2MI Lasro Simbolon.

"This afternoon, all meetings were present. Of course each of them has given names. The first is Mr. Arief, our Regional Secretary, Lasro Simbolon, and Safrizal," he said.

Ginting explained that North Sumatra Gurbernur Edy Rahmayadi and North Sumatra Deputy Governor Musa Rajekshah ended their term of office on September 5, 2023.

In addition, Ginting said, the North Sumatra DPRD together with the Governor of North Sumatra, Edy Rahmayadi, had signed a joint agreement with the Draft Regional Regulation (Ranperda) of the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget for the 2024 fiscal year.

For this reason, Ginting hopes that the Acting Governor of North Sumatra can carry out the program contained in the 2024 APBD which has been ratified.

"The 2024 APBD has been knocked, please do what is in accordance with the program's APBD. In particular, we will complete the IDR 2.7 trillion project no later than December, all 100 percent has been completed," he said.
