JAKARTA - The General Election Commission (KPU) of the Special Region of Yogyakarta said that political parties may replace the prospective legislative candidates for the 2024 General Election when entering the period of eliminating the temporary candidate list (DCS).

Head of the Technical Division for the Implementation of the DIY KPU, Zainuri Ikhsan, in Yogyakarta, Saturday, said that the replacement of the legislative candidate would allow until a permanent candidate list (DCT) was determined on November 4, 2023.

"During the funeral period (DCS) political parties can still replace the previously registered leg," said Ikhsan.

According to him, the replacement for legislative candidates is usually caused by various considerations, including the death of the candidate.

However, said Ikhsan, the replacement of the candidate must be based on the approval of the political party leadership.

Until now, he said, the DIY KPU was still verifying the documents on the results of the revision of the Bahaleg requirements document and the prospective DPD candidates until a maximum of August 6, 2023. During that time, political parties could not make changes to the legislative candidate.

"Before entering the DCS funeral, the replacement of the legislative candidate could not be done," he said.

He said as many as 826 candidates from 18 political parties and nine candidates for DPD RI were mostly categorized as not eligible (BMS) so they had to repair documents.

"The most frequent documents are considered to have not met the requirements, including a state court statement and legalization of diplomas," he said.

After the verification of the repair documents is complete, according to him, a candidate will be determined who is considered to have met the requirements (MS) and does not meet the requirements (TMS).

Next, the KPU will compile a list of temporary candidates (DCS) that can be observed until a list of permanent candidates (DCT) for legislative candidates is set on November 4, 2023.
