Prosecutors Investigate Allegations Of Corruption In Laboratory Construction At Rejang Lebong Hospital

REJANG LEBONG - The investigating team of the Rejang Lebong District Attorney's Office (Kejari), Bengkulu conducted an investigation into alleged corruption (tipikor) in the construction of a laboratory at the Rejang Lebong Hospital worth Rp4.6 billion in 2020.

Kajari Rejang Lebong Francisco Tarigan said the investigation into the alleged corruption in the construction of the Rejang Lebong Hospital laboratory was carried out after an indication of corruption and caused state losses of Rp. 500 million.

"Actually, we already have sufficient evidence to raise the status of alleged corruption in the construction project of the Rejang Lebong Hospital laboratory building with a budget ceiling of Rp4.6 billion for the 2020 fiscal year to the investigation stage," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, July 15.

To raise this status, his party on Thursday (13/7) conducted a search of the Rejang Lebong Regency Government Goods and Services Procurement Work Unit (UKPBJ) office, as well as the Rejang Lebong Regional Financial Management Agency (BPKD) Office.

With this sufficient evidence, his party will ask for statements from a number of witnesses who are also related to this activity, where the number of witnesses who have been questioned has reached 21 people.

So far, the results of the examination carried out by the Rejang Lebong Kejari investigators, he added, have led to the person most criminally responsible for the activity and in the near future will determine who is the suspect.

In the RSUD Rejang Lebong laboratory construction activity located in the Line II area of Merigi District, Kepahiang Regency from the Rp4.6 billion budget ceiling, it is known that the provisional amount of losses from expert calculations reached Rp500 million.

Based on expert calculations, according to him, there was a shortage of activity volume in building construction, then the procurement of inappropriate goods resulted in state losses.

He hopes that the examination of these witnesses can be completed by his party so that he can immediately determine the suspect in the activity.
