Madiun City Government Budgets IDR 1.3 Billion To Beautify Kuncen Mosque Cultural Heritage

MADIUN - Madiun City Government (Pemkot) has budgeted Rp1.3 billion to beautify the cultural heritage building of the Ancient Kuncen Mosque in Kuncen Village, Taman District, Madiun City, East Java.

Mayor Madiun Maidi said the funds were used to build a 18-meter-high mosque tower.

The tower will be designed like an ancient building so that it strongly supports its main building which has been designated as a cultural heritage by the East Java Cultural Conservation Center (BPCB).

"This mosque must be maintained. Because this will also become a religious tourism. The embryo already exists," said Mayor Maidi during the groundbreaking activity for the construction of the Kuncen Ancient Mosque tower, reported by ANTARA, Friday, July 14.

To build the design of the mosque tower, the Madiun City Government has consulted with the Throwulan Cultural Conservation Center (BPCB). It is hoped that the tower building can be integrated with the design of an ancient mosque.

In addition to the tower, the area that will be created as a religious tourist spot by the municipal government is also built sidewalks to gates.

"Our city does not have much natural resources. Therefore, all potential must be optimized to attract tourists. Including the existence of ancient mosques like this," said the mayor.

As planned, the construction of the tower is scheduled for 150 working days. This means that for the next five months or until the end of the year. Even so, the Madiun City Government is targeting development to be faster than scheduled.

In the Kuncen Ancient Mosque complex, there are graves of the previous Madiun Regents, one of which is the Regent of Ronggo Jumeno. Not only that, there are also several historical relics around the mosque.

Therefore, the mosque was designated as a cultural heritage.
