The East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) has coordinated with Timor Leste regarding the news of Kalumban Mali's arrest, a corruption suspect in the procurement of fertilizer from the NTT Agriculture and Food Security Service (DKP).
Head of the NTT High Prosecutor's Office (Kajati) Hutama Wisnu said the information he obtained was that the NTT Prosecutor's fugitive was arrested by the police in Timor Leste regarding immigration documents.
"We continue to coordinate with the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Timor Leste in Dili regarding the information that the suspect has been arrested in the country since 2016," he said in Kupang, NTT, Friday, July 14, which was confiscated by Antara.
Hutama said that Indonesia and Timor Leste do not yet have a bilateral agreement regarding the repatriation of criminal fugitives between the two countries.
For this reason, he said, the NTT Prosecutor's Office continues to coordinate with the Indonesian Embassy in Timor Leste regarding the legal handling of Kalumban Mali.
"We have not received definite information whether the person concerned was deported or not. Currently, the Indonesian Embassy in Timor Leste continues to monitor Dili," he said.
Kalumban Mali is known to be a suspect in a corruption case in the procurement of fertilizers at the NTT Provincial DKP for the 2009 fiscal year. Kalumban has been on the NTT Prosecutor's Wanted List (DPO) for seven years.

Apart from Kalumban Mali, Hutama said that the NTT Prosecutor's Office has a number of other names that are included in the DPO, which until now continue to be hunted down.
Although he did not mention the identities of the DPOs of the NTT Prosecutor's Office, Hutama hoped that the suspects would immediately surrender to undergo the legal process in accordance with applicable legal provisions.
"There are several perpetrators of criminal cases who are still running away, the NTT Prosecutor's Office is still monitoring and if it is known that they will be arrested by the fugitive arrest team (bur) of the Prosecutor's Office," he said.
