KPK Reminds Civil Servant Code Of Ethics After Accused Of Novel Baswedan Lying

JAKARTA - Former investigator of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Novel Baswedan said that the reason for the synergy and harmonization that underlies Brigadier General Endar Priantoro's acceptance as Director of KPK Investigation was a lie.

He considered that this step was actually taken because Endar's dismissal was a mistake. This was conveyed by Novel via a tweet on his Twitter account, @nazaqistsha today, Thursday, July 6.

"The KPK seems to lie again. Brigadier General Endar returned to the KPK to become Director of Investigation because administrative appeals were accepted by the President. This means that the KPK's decision to stop is really problematic," said Novel.

Head of the KPK News Section, Ali Fikri, is considered to have argued by throwing the reason for the synergy of law enforcement officials, said Novel. "Never mind the KPK, stop lying or manifolding facts. Aren't you ashamed," he wrote.

Ali then responded to Novel's statement by believing that the public would not be consumed by the narrative presented. He then mentioned Novel's position as a state civil servant (ASN) or civil servant (PNS) at the National Police, who was later dismissed by the KPK because he did not pass the national insight test (TWK).

"We are worried that with the narrative being built without the factual information, the public can read as if it was just a sentiment with personal revenge. We certainly don't want that to happen. Moreover, it is done by an ASN. Where in every action and behavior must also follow the code of ethics of his profession," said Ali in his written statement.

Furthermore, Ali explained the process of Endar's return to the KPK. "When it comes to administrative appeals by ASN, we understand that there are rules, namely PP 79 of 2021 concerning administrative efforts and the ASN consideration body. The PP is the implementation of the provisions of Law 5 of 2014 concerning ASN and it is clear what administrative appeals are, the scope, and what the process is like," he said.

"This means that there is a mechanism that must be carried out so that a decision is finally born," Ali continued.

However, the KPK confirmed that it had not accepted the appeal decision that made Endar re-employed as a director. Ali again said that this process was to maintain synergy between the apparatus.

"The policies taken by the Kemenpan-RB are in principle in order to maintain harmonization and synergy between law enforcers as an effort to successfully eradicate corruption, and this is indeed important so that the KPK considers this," he said.

Previously, Endar was dismissed as Director of Investigation and returned to the Bhayangkara Corps. He then fought back by reporting Firli Bahuri, Secretary General of the KPK Cahya H. Harefa, and the KPK HR Bureau to the Supervisory Board.

Not only that, Endar also reported a number of allegations to the KPK Council regarding Firli's alleged ethical violation. One of them is related to the leaking of investigation documents at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources which Firli later decided not to be guilty.

Furthermore, Endar also reported the alleged maladministration of his dismissal to the Indonesian Ombudsman. Then, he reported Firli to the Polda Metro Jaya for allegedly leaking documents.

Later, Endar returned to the KPK on Wednesday, July 5. The KPK calls this effort a form of synergy with the Police in eradicating corruption.
