Viral Case Of Domestic Violence In Depok, Husband Reported By Wife Arrested By Police

JAKARTA - The alleged case of domestic violence (KDRT) that made a husband and wife (couple) suspects for reporting to each other continues to be investigated. Most recently, Polda Metro Jaya arrested and detained Bani Idham Bayumi, as husband.

"There has been an arrest and detention for acts of physical violence in the household against his wife which has been carried out continuously," said Director of the General Criminal Investigation of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Hengki Haryadi in his statement, Wednesday, July 5.

The arrest of Bani is in accordance with the rules. Moreover, he has also been a suspect for some time.

In addition, based on the results of the Bani investigation, it was proven that he had committed 6 acts of violence against his wife. Domestic Violence action was carried out in 2014, 2016, 2021, 2022, and 2023.

"The arrests are in accordance with the rules in Article 44 paragraph 1 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 23 of 2004 concerning the Elimination of Domestic Violence (PKDRT)," said Hengki.

Previously, Polda Metro Jaya took over a case of domestic violence between husband and wife with the initials B and PB in Depok, West Java, where both were named suspects.

"Given that this development has become a public concern, seeing also from the aspect of the context of completeness capability, both structurally the capabilities of personnel, this case will be carried out by Polda Metro Jaya at the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko.

Trunoyudo also explained the reason for the delegation of the case to the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation of the Metro Jaya Police because there was a work unit of the Sub-Directorate of Youth, Children and Women (Renakta).
