The House Of Representatives' Hajjwas Team Asks The Government To Focus On The Rehydration Of Congregants Who Had Been Abandoned In Muzdalifah

JAKARTA - Member of the House of Representatives' Hajj Supervisory Team (Timwas) Mufti Anam asked the government to immediately focus on rehydrating thousands of members of Indonesian pilgrims who had been abandoned in Muzdalifah.

"Currently the weather here is very hot, ranging from 4344 degrees Celsius. Of course this greatly affects the condition of the congregation. It needs immediate treatment, including in terms of health to restore the condition of the congregation's body," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, June 30.

According to him, due to the delay in pick-up, many of the members of the Hajj pilgrims experienced lethargy due to late consumption supplies.

As a result of this incident, he supports the Ministry of Religion in conducting evaluations for improving future services so that incidents like this do not happen again. This includes speed and effectiveness in transporting pilgrims in the midst of such a dense situation.

Based on complaints from members of the Hajj pilgrims, according to the people's representative from the East Java II electoral district, many of them experience excessive thirst. The body of the congregation is also weak due to overabundance of food and drinks.

"Rehydration processes must immediately drink fluids, drink water, including liquids that contain good electrolytes to replace lost fluids," he said.

In addition, Mufti also asked the medical team to increase its strength to handle the cases of thousands of members of the congregation, hungry, and overheating. Various preparations must be made by the medical team.

"The medical team must be on standby (ready) with strength that may be added, both personnel and equipment. The first aid must be carried out properly, the infusion set and so on to minimize the worsening of the condition of the congregation who is angry and overheated," he asserted.
