One House Caught Fire, 3 People Injured Due To Cellphone Charger Short Circuit

JAKARTA - A plot of rented house in the Tipar Village area, Cakung District, East Jakarta was scorched by fire on Wednesday night, June 28. In addition to scorched the house, the flames also injured 3 residents.

Head of East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept., Gatot Sulaeman confirmed the fire incident that occurred. The fire was extinguished at 21.57 WIB.

"The object that caught fire was a plot of a 5x5 meter rented house owned by Abdul Aziz. Three residents suffered burns," said Gatot when confirmed by VOI, Thursday, June 29.

Based on the results of the temporary investigation by East Jakarta Gulkarmat officers, the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit.

"Initially the victim was playing with his cellphone while being charged in bed. Then there was an electrical short circuit and caused the fire to grow bigger," he said.

The fire injured three residents consisting of 2 men and 1 woman. For further treatment, the victim has been taken to a nearby hospital.

"As a result of the fire, the loss is estimated at Rp. 100 million," he said.
