President Jokowi Leaves Messages To Ambassadors Ensure Indonesian Citizens' Rights Regarding The 2024 Election Are Fulfilled

JAKARTA - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary (LBBP) of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) to Romania and the Republic of Moldova Meidyatama Suryodiningrat said President Joko Widodo advised the ambassadors to ensure that the 2024 elections abroad can run safely.

"The first is to ensure that the rights of citizens of the Republic of Indonesia abroad are fulfilled, one of which is to ensure that it is related to voter registration and so on," said Meidyatama Suryodiningrat, who is usually called Dimas at the Jakarta Presidential Palace, Monday, June 26, which was confiscated by Antara.

Dimas conveyed this after being inaugurated by President Jokowi along with 11 other LBBP Ambassadors at the State Palace in Jakarta.

"It must be remembered, we as ambassadors representing the country, we are not directly involved because there is a overseas election committee, our job is to facilitate this," added Dimas.

Dimas said that his inauguration as Ambassador to LBBP was the first batch of ambassadors to be inaugurated in the endemic era.

"So it's a little different," added Dimas.

Dimas said that the President hopes that the degree of voting abroad is as important as those in the country.

"This means guaranteeing that all Indonesian citizens abroad can exercise their rights as voters in accordance with the law and that the process is all going well, so elections abroad are as important as elections in Indonesia," said Dimas.

Meidyatama Suryodiningrat previously served as President Director of Perum National News Agency (LKBN) Antara since January 22, 2016.

Prior to becoming the Managing Director of the Antara LKBN, he was the Daily Editor-in-Chief of The Jakarta Post for 6 years and a member of the Board of Directors of PT Bina Media Tenggara, an English daily publisher.

In addition to pursuing a career in journalism for more than 18 years, the man who was born in Jakarta on December 12 has had a career as an analyst for a strategic consulting firm in Jakarta related to the government and society.

Meidyatama received a bachelor's degree in Political Science and History Carleton University at Harvard University Ottawa and a graduate at Dalhousie University.
