Mahfud MD: 87 Percent Of Corruptors In Indonesia Graduate From Universities

BANDA ACEH - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD said that based on data from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), 87 percent of corruptors in Indonesia are university graduates.

"There are 1,044 or 87 percent of corruptors who graduated from universities out of a total of 1,200 corruptors in Indonesia," said Prof Mahfud MD on the sidelines of a scientific oration at the 54th Dies Natalis, Malikussaleh University, in Lhokseumawe City, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, June 12.

Mahfud said that this percentage does not mean that Indonesia failed to score a bachelor's degree. Graduates from universities in the country reached more than 17.6 million, and if calculated, only 0.00001 percent of university graduates are involved in corruption cases.

"This means that this number is very small with the number of graduates from all universities in Indonesia and universities in general have succeeded in producing national cadres and building civilization in Indonesia to make this country developed from various sectors," he said.

The current condition, said Mahfud, is that Indonesia is being hit by a very dangerous disease, namely corruption. Therefore, he asked all universities in Indonesia to further strengthen the values of Pancasila and teach that corruption is against Pancasila.

"With universities, I hope to be able to organize education in accordance with the constitutional objectives, namely maintaining the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia and advancing the nation's civilization," he said.
