JAKARTA - PT MRT Jakarta no longer requires passengers to wear masks while inside the station or train. This policy has been in effect since Friday, June 9 last week.

This follows the Circular Letter of the Jakarta Capital City Special Regional Transportation Service Number 26/SE/2023 concerning the Appeal for the Implementation of Health Protocols in Public Transportation Facilities and Infrastructure during the Transition Period Towards Endemic.

PT MRT Jakarta Corporate Secretary Division Head Ahmad Pratomo said that the policy of not wearing a mask is intended for passengers who are in good health.

"Although it no longer requires the use of masks when using the Jakarta MRT, service users are advised to wear masks when conditions are not healthy such as flu or cough, still carry hand sanitizers, and wash hands with soap while in the Jakarta MRT environment," said Pratomo in his statement, quoted Monday, June 12.

MRT Jakarta still provides a place to wash hands equipped with soap or cleaning liquid at the station.

Previously, the COVID-19 Handling Task Force issued health protocol rules during the transition period of the COVID-19 endemic as cases spread was controlled.

Now, people are allowed not to wear masks if they are in good health and are not at risk of contracting or transmitting COVID-19 and are advised to continue to wear masks that are properly closed if they are not healthy or at risk of COVID-19, before and during trips and activities in public facilities.

The adjustment is stated in the Circular Letter of the COVID-19 Task Force Number 1 of 2023 concerning Health Protocols during the COVID-19 Endemic Transition Period.

The latest circular generally regulates health protocols for all people who wish to travel domestically and abroad, perpetrators of large-scale activities, and activities at public facilities to provide personal protection or responsibility to prevent transmission of COVID-19 with several recommendations.
