Cleaning Action, Pertamina Gathers 3.2 Tons Of Garbage From Dumai Beach And Bengkalis

DUMAI - In the beach cleaning action with the community on Dumai and Bengkalis beaches, Saturday, June 10, PT Pertamina International Refinery (PT KPI) Dumai Unit, PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan together with the Riau Province Environment and Forestry Service managed to collect 3.2 tons of garbage.

A total of 386 participants in cleaning at Marina Beach, Teluk Makmur Village, Medang Kampai District, Dumai City managed to collect 2.3 tons of waste with details of 0.5 tons of organic waste and 1.7 tons of inorganic waste.

Meanwhile, the implementation of a similar action in Sei Pakning, Bengkalis Regency, PT KPI Dumai Unit managed to clean 844.8 kilograms of waste with details of 159.7 kg of organic waste and 685.1 kg of inorganic waste.

"PT KPI Dumai Unit is committed to reducing waste piles through various programs. This time we raised the theme "Beat Plastic Pollution" in this beach cleaning action activity," said VP Production Planning and Monitoring of PT KPI, Permono Avianto, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, June 10.

The implementation of this beach cleaning action (Coastal Clean Up) is part of a series of similar actions at 133 points throughout Indonesia. This activity was commanded by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) of the Republic of Indonesia.

He explained that marine debris is a serious threat to mankind. To deal with this problem, the company is committed to reducing waste accumulation through various programs that have been implemented internally and externally.

Among them are the substitution of bottled drinking water by providing cones, utilizing used iron, alms and alms programs, providing integrated dining places, and transforming electronic correspondence to reduce office waste.

Head of the Riau Province Environment and Forestry Agency, Makmun Murod, said that this kind of activity needs to continue to be developed with the support and active role of the community and development partners.

"We hope that this activity will support the achievement of sustainable development, as well as preserve coastal and river areas which are an important part of efforts to maintain human life," he hoped.
