Garut Regent Nyawer's Wife After Registering For Candidates, Bawaslu Decides Not To Enter Election Crimes

Garut Regency Bawaslu said three prospective legislative candidates from Nasdem were not included in the election criminal offense.

The head of the Garut Regency Bawaslu, Ipa Hafsiah Yakin, said that this was agreed upon based on the results of the plenary meeting and carried out the clarification stages for the three bacaleg. Therefore, the process of handling this case has been completed.

"Nyawer, after registering prospective members of the Garut Regency DPRD for the 2024 General Election, cannot be used as findings, as election violations by the Garut Regency Bawaslu in accordance with Perbawaslu Number 7 of 2022 concerning Handling of the Findings and Reports of General Election Violations," he said during a press conference on the results of the plenary meeting on the handling of the Babilleg money palm case from Nasdem in Garut, Tuesday, May 30, confiscated by Antara.

He said that the Garut Bawaslu had carried out the process of handling the money palm case by three baulaleg from the Nasdem Party which was carried out within the Garut KPU, May 11, 2023.

Since the findings, Ipa said that Garut Bawaslu held a plenary meeting and then summoned a number of witnesses and related parties, namely the Chairman of the Garut KPU Junaidin Basri, then three bala legs including Nasdem Party Chairman Diah Kurniasari, Suherman, and Iwan Setiawan.

He conveyed that the results of the clarification from the three legislators admitted that the sawer action while riding the chain was due to spontaneity, or that there was no element of intent.

"The results of the clarification made by the Garut Regency Bawaslu on behalf of Diah Kurniasari, Suherman and Iwan Setiawan in the action of controlling a sum of money, there was no intentional element," he said.

He said, after clarifying the three baulalegs, Bawaslu Garut then held a plenary meeting to determine whether or not there was an element of election violation.

Based on the legal study, he said, there were no violations of the law or money politics because currently there has not entered the campaign stage or the name of the legislative election has not been determined.

After KPU Regulation Number 3 of 2022 concerning the stages and schedule for holding the 2024 General Election, the campaign stage starts from November 28, 2023 to February 10, 2024.

"When the sawer action was carried out by prospective members of the Garut Regency DPRD from the Nasdem Party outside the campaign stage," he said.

Previously, the Chairman of the DPD Nasdem Garut, then Baulaleg from Nasdem, namely Suherman, a former bureaucrat official of the Garut Regency Government, and a cadre while riding a trip to throw money around the Garut KPU office, Thursday, May 11.
