KRI Malahayati And KRI Fatahillah Strengthen Koarmada III In Sorong, West Papua

JAKARTA - The Commander of the Indonesian Fleet Command Vice Admiral TNI, Heru Kusmanto, said that the Warships of the Republic of Indonesia (KRI) Malahayati-362 and KRI Fatahillah-361 in the near future will soon strengthen Koarmada III based in Sorong, West Papua.

KRI Malahayati and KRI Fatahillah, both of whom are corvette, will be replaced from Koarmada II to Koarmada III.

"For Koarmada III, the number of KRIs, marine security patrol boats (patkamla), and also Navy ships (KAL) is still limited so that in the near future there will be a dispersion (instead of bina) of two KRIs from Koarmada II to Koarmada III. (Both) are corvette types, namely KRI Malahayati and KRI Fatahillah," said Herru Kusmanto after leading the handover of Pangkoarmada III Rear Admiral TNI Rachmad Jayadi quoting Antara.

Not only that, two warships of the type of fast missile ship (KRC) made by PT PAL, namely KRI Kampak-625 and KRI Panapan-626, are also likely to be dispersed to Koarmada III.

"God willing, in the near future it will be shifted to Fleet III, strengthening ranks in Fleet III," said Laksdya Herru.

The Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy, Admiral TNI Muhammad Ali in Surabaya, East Java, Wednesday (17/5), officially named two 60-meter fast missile ships made by PT PAL Indonesia, namely the 5th KRC and 6th KRC as KRI Empang-625 and KRI Panapan-626.

President Director of PT PAL Indonesia Kaharuddin Djenod at the event of naming a ship in Surabaya said that the two fast missile ships had successfully passed the sea-screening test (sea acceptance test/SAT). As a result, the two ships can sail with an average speed exceeding the speed targeted in the contract.

"This is certainly proof that in terms of design, performance, and stability there are no significant problems. This achievement is a manifestation of the improvement of the 60-meter KCR variant," he said.
