Kabaharkam Inaugurates RW Police Formation In Yogyakarta

Head of the National Police's Security Maintenance Agency (Kabaharkam) Komjen Fadil Imranmerekan formed the RW Police in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY).

According to Kabaharkam, the RW Police are here as a form of modern consolidation practices that lead from upstream, namely preventing crime through a real approach with the community.

"According to the direction of the National Police Chief, which emphasizes that the police must be close to the community and be humane," Fadil said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 17.

The former East Java Police Chief explained that the RW Police were all members of the police around the neighborhood, not just members of Bhabinkamtibmas. "All members of the police will carry out the function of the RW Police where they live. If a member of the police is on duty in other cities, then automatically he becomes a RW Police in the residence while he is on duty or serving," he said.

Kabaharkam said that in carrying out their duties, it is hoped that the RW Police can establish communication once a week, stay in touch with the community, and establish themselves as friends, bridges, communicators, facilitators and places of heart for residents where they live to prevent crimes and maintain order in the community.

The former Metro Jaya Police Chief said that he had started the formation of the RW Police in the DKI Jakarta area.

"When I was entrusted to lead Jakarta, I tried to carry out the orders of the National Police Chief through several programs, namely Tangguh Jaya Village, Independent Vaccination, Street Race, ADA Police, until the night of service," said Fadil.

According to Fadil, the achievements obtained from the RW Police program made police officers close to the community, knew the condition of their territory, were familiar with residents, so that they could prevent various crimes.

In fact, he said, the number of street crimes, brawls could be reduced to 49 percent.

"The journey from the formation of these various programs later became the embryo of the birth of the RW Police in Jakarta, which was then appreciated by the National Police Chief, and then gradually carried out nationally," he said.

Previously, Monday (15/5), the Head of the National Police, Komjen Fadil Imran, launched the RW Police program to serve in the jurisdiction of the West Java Regional Police (Polda), by holding an apple in the courtyard of Gedung Sate, Bandung City, West Java.

Fadil said the RWitu Police program was held to overcome security problems that could potentially arise from the lowest community base, namely the neighborhood environment (RW).
