Immigration Deportation 3 Nigerian Foreigners And Ivory Coast From Bali

DENPASAR - Denpasar Immigration Detention Center, Bali, deported three foreign nationals from Nigeria and Ivory Coast for violating residence permits.

"We continue to work to monitor foreigners with immigration patrols," said Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of Bali Province Anggiat Napitupulu in Denpasar as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 17.

The three male foreigners from the West African region each had the initials AJK aged 28 years from Ivory Coast and two from Nigeria, with the initials CAO aged 33 years and CO aged 35 years.

They were deported for violating Article 78 Paragraph 3 of Law Number 6 Year 2011 concerning Immigration.

Head of the Immigration Detention Center (Rudenim) Denpasar Babay Baenullah explained that the three foreigners were deported through Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport and Jakarta's Soekarno Hatta Airport on Tuesday (16/5) to Ethiopia.

"The AJK was detention for approximately five months, while the CAO and CO for approximately one month. After the administration was ready, the three were immediately deported," he said.

Based on Immigration records in Bali, AJK entered Indonesian territory in February 2019 using a visit visa-free facility valid until March 2019 for business purposes.

However, he worked as a cook at a typical African restaurant in Jakarta for one year.

In fact, while in Indonesia, based on Immigration data, AJK committed skimming fraud or theft of financial information data of a foreigner outside Indonesian territory, which was carried out through Facebook social media.

In November 2022, AJK then decided to move to Bali even though he ran out of money and already knew his residence permit had run out.

AJK was later arrested by Immigration officers and placed in the Immigration Detention Center on December 8, 2022 because it could not be deported immediately.

Meanwhile, the CAO and CO from Nigeria were known to have entered Indonesia on October 28, 2017 through Soekarno Hatta Airport, Jakarta using a visit visa.

Both of them moved to Bali in September 2022 after their goal of doing clothing business failed because they did not have a Limited Stay Permit Card (Kasas).

CAO and CO were later arrested by Immigration officers for not taking care of an expired residence permit. Both were deposited at the Denpasar Rudenim on April 14, 2023 because they could not be deported immediately considering that both of them ran out of money.

Previously, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of Bali through Immigration in Bali deported 101 foreigners during the period January to April 2023. Deportation was carried out due to various problems, either exceeding the period of residence or violating Indonesia's norms, especially in Bali.

Meanwhile, since the international door was reopened in Bali from May 2022 to December 2022, forced action to expel foreigners from Indonesian territory reached 194 people.

Based on records from the Bali Ministry of Law and Human Rights, most of the deported citizens came from Russia and there were also several other countries, including Nigeria, Ukraine, and Japan.
