JAKARTA - Minister of Religion (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas said that as of Wednesday (17/5) at 10.31 WIB there were still 1,035 regular Hajj candidates who had not paid the Hajj Travel Fee (BIPIH).

"As of 10.31 WIB, only 1,035 people have been paid," said Minister of Religion Yaqut during a Working Meeting (Raker) with Commission VIII of the DPR as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 17.

The Minister of Religion said that the progress of paying Hajj costs has now touched around 200 thousand people or 98.71 percent. There are 178,876 regular pilgrims who have the right to pay off, 1,830 Regional Hajj Officers (PHD) and guides from the Hajj & Umrah Worship Guidance Group (KBIHU).

The payment of BIPIH took place from April 11 to May 5, 2023. The payment process was then extended until May 12, 2023 because there were still many prospective hajj candidates who had not made repayments.

The repayment period was then extended again until May 19 considering that there were members of the congregation who had not yet paid off, one of which was hampered by the error of the Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) system.

During the meeting, Minister of Religion Yaqut also conveyed that there were 23,258 prospective reserve hajj pilgrims who had paid off.

"Special pilgrims who have paid 16.305 or 100 percent. PIHK (Special Hajj Organizers) officers as many as 1.375 are in the process of paying," he said.

"Flight contracts have been completed, such as contracts for providing accommodation, consumption, and transportation in Makkah and Medina, which have been 100 percent," said Minister of Religion Yaqut.
