A tornado hit the coastal area of East Tanjung Jabung Regency (Tanjabtim) Jambi, destroying 33 semi-permanent housing units and warehouses belonging to residents in Hamlets I, II and III Teluk Maelaghan Village, Kuala Jambi District.

There were no casualties in the incident, only material losses that were not yet known.

Kuala Jambi Police Chief Ipda Usaha Sitepu when contacted, Tuesday explained that the strong winds of tornadoes accompanied by lightning and heavy rain damaged the roofs and walls of residents' houses and warehouses.

Meanwhile, according to Akhyar, a resident of Teluk Majelis Village, said that this incident took place quickly, the wind was less than two minutes away when the weather was cloudy and suddenly strong winds accompanied by lightning.

Most residents immediately entered the house because it was also raining and as a result of the tornado there were 33 units of wooden materials, including houses and warehouses that were lightly and heavily damaged.

From the data compiled by the Regional Disaster Management Agency of Tanjung Jabung Timur Regency, there were 29 non-permanent houses that were slightly damaged, one non-permanent house was heavily damaged and three coconut warehouses were heavily damaged.

Currently, the sub-district government together with the Social Service, Baznas and BPBD of Tanjung Jabung Timur Regency have gone down to the scene to record losses due to the natural disaster.

Meanwhile, the Tanjabtim Regency Government is still coordinating with related parties to take steps to take action against buildings and the fate of residents whose houses have been damaged by a tornado.
