Cak Imin Claims To Be Supported By Ma'ruf Amin Maju As Cawapres 2024

JAKARTA - Chairman of the National Awakening Party Muhaimin Iskandar admitted that he had the support of Vice President Ma'ruf Amin to run as a candidate for Vice President in the 2024 presidential election.

"Oh yes for sure. Support. He said 'it's time for you now'. Yes, basically he supports all PKB steps per day, then consult again later," said Cak Imin after meeting Vice President Ma'ruf Amin at the Vice President's official residence as reported by ANTARA, Monday, May 15.

Cak Imin said he came to meet the Vice President to stay in touch as well as ask for input regarding the 2024 General Election.

According to Cak Imin, the Vice President as the PKB elder and the former chairman of the PKB Syuro Council asked PKB to be solid, strong and compact, and asked all PKB cadres to continue to fight for the struggle of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU).

Even though he admitted that he had received support from the Vice President, Cak Imin said that the declaration of the vice presidential candidate still had to wait for the coalition party.

"PKB must wait for the others, can't walk alone," he explained.

Meanwhile, when asked about his opportunity to run as a vice presidential candidate to accompany the PDI-P presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo because Ganjar is said to need to be accompanied by the figure of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) to win the 2024 presidential election, Cak Imin said it was under the authority of the PDI-P General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri.

Separately, Vice President Masduki Baidlowi's spokesman to reporters said he did not deny or confirm the support from Vice President Ma'ruf Amin for Cak Imin to run in the 2024 presidential election.

"I don't want to argue or confirm what Cak Imin said. The point is what Cak Imin is talking about, just please," said Masduki.
