Kabaharkam Launches West Java Region RW Police

Head of the National Police's Security Maintenance Agency (Kabaharkam) Komjen Fadil Imran launched the RW Police program to serve in the jurisdiction of the West Java Regional Police.

Fadil said the RW Police program was held to overcome security problems that could potentially arise from the lowest community base, namely the neighborhood environment (RW).

"Actually, the RW Police's job is how to create a cool and safe RW with security assessment, the police will do that with the head of the local RW and other elements of society," Fadil said after leading the rally in Bandung as reported by ANTARA, Monday, May 15.

In West Java Province, there are around 70 thousand RWs spread across districts and cities. Meanwhile, the number of police personnel within the West Java Regional Police is approximately 32 thousand personnel.

In addition to maintaining security and public order, Fadil said that the presence of the police in the scope of the RW could create the police as protectors for the community.

According to him, the RW police also need to understand the problems of the community at the RW level, starting from the economic problems of the community and even stunting cases.

"Not prioritizing law enforcement, but preventing it is cheaper, more effective. If the RW is safe, the kelurahan is safe, and so on it will also be safe," he said.

Meanwhile, West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil said the task of the police in securing homecoming and backflow was considered good. Furthermore, the police will face a tough task of securing the implementation of the 2024 General Election.

"Well, we will test this RW Police at its peak, namely the 2024 General Election. However, West Java's track record is always conducive, there are no loose bullets, no spilled blood. We will face a democratic transition, hopefully it will continue smoothly," he said.
