Bawaslu Clarifies The Regent Of Jember Regarding Alleged Election Violations

JEMBER - The General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) of Jember Regency, East Java, clarified to the Regent of Jember Hendy Siswanto regarding the alleged election violation by visiting Pendapa Wahyawibagraha Jember.

"The process of clarifying the alleged election violation is to follow up on reports from the Election Education Network for the People (JEPR)," said a member of the Jember Regency Bawaslu Division for Handling Violations and Information Data Dwi Endah Prasetyowati as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, May 11.

According to him, the clarification process since the report was submitted and examined by Bawaslu Jember so that in the process his party has 7 days plus 7 more in handling alleged election violations in accordance with existing regulations.

"Previously, we had summoned the Jember Regent for clarification. However, the person concerned could not attend because he was out of town so we 'picked up the ball' to the pendapa," he said.

The second summons for clarification to the Regent of Jember was explained by "picking up the ball" after coordinating related to the schedule of Regent Hendy.

"Regarding the material submitted, it cannot be explained in detail because it includes excluded information and is still in the clarification stage. However, everything is related to the report submitted by the JEPR reporter to the Jember Bawaslu," he said.

Until now, he continued, his party had examined 61 people, including the reported and the Regent of Jember Hendy Siswanto.

Based on the applicable regulations if later proven to have committed a violation, his party will recommend to related institutions to be able to impose sanctions in accordance with the rules.

"So, for example, ASN, we recommend it to KASN. If the Regent, we submit a recommendation to the Governor regarding the sanctions of the institution concerned, he will decide," he said.

Endah explained that the authority of the Jember Regency Bawaslu only to provide recommendations, not to impose sanctions related to the report because there are other institutions that will impose sanctions later.
